First cold snap of winter

Postby Jaxfishgyd » Sat Dec 09, 2017 7:51 pm

So the first cold temps for here in N. Fla is arriving tonight, lows around 40 here on the coast, 30 inland..... I DO NOT like any temp below 60. And not much warmer on Monday.... Luckily out boat heaters and the electric portable heaters do a great job of maintaining 76-78 inside the boat... I HOPE this is our only cold snap of the winter....'I KNOW, I'M DREAMING'....

It will keep the beers cold for free mind or does that low alcohol America stuff freeze immediately at 32F :o . Only difference indoors here in the condo is that the aircon is not kicking in every 10 minutes even though it is still on the same setting as all summer. I will admit to pulling a sheet over myself about 5am this morning, first time in a year, but still not planning on digging out the long pants or long sleeves. Right now there is a wicked cold spell back in the UK also with heavy snows predicted in some areas but not where we hail from or where we will go back to in the south coast where it is currently running warmer than Florida but admittedly that is an anomaly :o

My beer doesn't last long enough to freeze so I can't prove or disprove your 'Slap at our beer'..... it's 39 and windy here in Fernandina Beach at 0700 with our highs only hitting the mid 50's...... Luckily our boat heaters are working great so it's 76 inside....

I thought I saw a 'growler' go by us on the south going ebb but it wasn't it was just a frozen solid 6 pack from somewhere up north.

The cool temps are a welcome relief for me. Worked all day on the mast wiring without a sweat. My kind of weather.

It's 9*F here in Banner Elk, NC. We're here for a week so that 44 in North Florida will sound good to us!
Take care and joy, Aythya crew

Been working under the helm this week. It’s a heck of a lot better in there at this temperature than the usual 90 or 100 in there with no air flow. Plus, a cold beer is just an arms reach away all day. BTW Robin, you’re right about the quality of Capt. Fishy’s beer. I don’t mean to say he isn’t particular, but he’s been collecting cans off his pier where fisherman often leave them. Sometimes he even finds a few swigs left in ‘em.

I'ts 51 here now, thinking of trying the pool forecast is 32 for Friday morning however. CF just better be sure it is beer left in those cans, not that you could easily tell differently with beers round here.

Man, was it chilly this morning. Had some ice on the deck! First time in years I’ve felt like there really is a seasonal change. I heard Capt. Charlie had to double up on beer consumption to keep it from freezing.
