Made the Move to FL

Postby SeaplaneDriver » Sat May 05, 2018 6:33 pm

Hi folks, I finally made the move to FL for a job flying charters around the Caribbean!

I sold my Ericson back up in NC and am looking for my next vessel here. Wish me luck with that!

My big question is the address question (residency, drivers license, car registration, voting, etc). Would you all recommend St. Brendan’s? Any other solutions or is that the way to go?

Congrats on the move to Florida. Good luck in your search for the next vessel. Your question about address depends on many factors. Are you going to be mobile? Or stay put and live on the plane, boat or in a house/apt.? Why pay an extra expense if you are going to live in a house/apt., or marina? :) I have a mailbox that has a removable shelf which allows the mail to drop about 4 feet to the base. Most of my bills go to a bank for payment.

Congrats and welcome to FL. I’m still living on dirt, but that could change in the next year or so. Also looking at St. Brendan’s. Only issue so far would possibly be Am. Express who has maintained that no mail service company is good enough to use for a card holder’s address.

New complications with St. Brendan's. Clay county has decided that they aren't getting enough money from St. brendan's customers, so are making waves about using that as address for voting, driving, etc. I've decided to get new doc here in Jax, also driver's license. Hope to be in Broward Co. to register to vote, then change driving, etc., to there, as well.

Problems at St. Brendans, oh that’s just great. Our plan for the spring was to head out on the loop and maybe even dump our dirt residence. St Brendan’s was our pick for maintaining licenses and registrations in FL.

I haven't noticed any changes with St. Brendan's, but then I've been with them for twenty years. Maybe there are new hoops to jump through for new accounts.
Take care and joy, Aythya crew

It's not St. Brendans, it's CLay county. They want a dirt address to register to vote, so a lot of people give the marina address. They want to be sure that they are collecting as much tax as possible. Especially sales tax on boats. Politicians!!!!

OK, thanks. we have occasional stuff deliveded via SBI thatwe cannot buy in UK or is too expensive. Our Florida drivers licences are still registered there too as is milady's vote, not applicable to me of course as a brit.

Hmmm. Never thought of that. Could be some minor fraud possible through the use of some similar mail handlers I suppose.

I don't think there is any claim of fraud, but Clay wants to collect sales tax on our boats, and, of course, any fees they can think of.
