We just purchased our big kids boat this month in Jacksonville. 1979 CSY 44. She's big and heavy and beautiful. We're starting the next phase of our life after raising 3 humans for 25 years. We'll be moving to Jacksonville to live aboard our beauty in January. We are lucky to have virtual jobs that allow us this flexibility. We'll be staying in the Jacksonville area for a year or so. Just happy to have our new boat and starting this new life.

We'll be looking at using mooring balls and living at anchor during the 'cool' months so we can test all our off-grid system and have some mental and physical freedom. When it gets hot; we'll move to a marina for comfort. Here's to hoping life can/will be that easy. ;-)

Happy to find this forum and learn new stuff and share anything we can to help others.

There are some excellent live-aboard marina opportunities in the Jacksonville area, but vey few mooring balls available with any shore amenities. I've always liked the CSYs and spent some time in the Bahamas on a pair of smaller ones. 'looking forward to hearing of your adventures. Welcome to the community!
Take care and joy, Aythya crew

Man, that’s a lot of boat to start out with. You didn’t mention if you “grew” into it from many others. Meanwhile, welcome and please share the details of your new venture!
