No dead fish stink here yet, but big fish kills north and south of here happening already. Just the brginning of what could be a bad year.

Got my first whiff of the Red Tide air today. Longboat Key beach is deserted. Still no dead fish in the canals though.

There will be a lot of snow birds coming soon and the polluted water and Green Tide in Stuart caused by the Okeechobee Lake dumps are chasing some of the east coast Krogen Yacht fleet over here this winter. It'd be a darned shame if all they did was traded the Green Tide for the Red Tide.

Thought I’d bring back this timely thread, cuz we sure have a bad case of the Red Tide in SW Florida again. Some say the worst ever. Huge fish kills up and down the coast. Even the vultures can’t keep up this time. Daily life here is affected, as is the entire tourist, fishing & charter industry. I think the may change the name from Sun Coast to Red Coast.

And again for the first week in September, some improvement after a few storms passed through. Red is the worst, of course, followed by orange, yellow, white and grey.

Holy moley!!! After my granddaughter's wedding I will be heading south. Not looking forward to meeting blue-green algae or red tide.

Wow. On this side we just have the blue-green algae. That's bad enough.

It’s bad here. My Admiral has had enough. She’s starting to get the brain fog that comes with a plethora of other effects, so she’s heading to a hotel about 5 miles inland. I’ll be stuck here with the cats till she decides how long to make the stay. I was out this morning replacing the battery in my truck for an hour or so....still not critical for me but I didn’t see any joggers doing their routine rounds.

The poor dear... heading inland is a good idea.

Up here on Madeira Beach at least one outdoor restaurant closed up. The staff won't come in and the regulars are not leaving their homes. I don't know about tourists as this is not the season.

I can sympathize with Eva. This stuff isn't good for my asthma, and it's not doing the dog any favors, either.
